The love and passion for Virat Kohli is
back. He was declared useless after he failed to score on the tour of England.
The experts were after him while fans had lost trust in Virat Kohli. I know it
was a miserable tour for India's batting sensation but people should have
remembered that even great Sachin Tendulkar went through difficult times in his
illustrious career. Virat Kohli has been a regular run getter for his team
since making his international debut but this was ignored when he was failing
in front of English bowlers. His personal life was blasted, labeling his
relationship with Anushka Sharma as complete distraction. But, he has once
again proved that there is no one like him as far as Men in Blue are concerned.
The right hand batsman was in right frame
of mind in the ODI series against West Indies. He scored a well crafted century
in the fourth ODI at Dharamshala but due to West Indies team's sudden
withdrawal from the tour, the story of Virat's success was short lived. This was no distraction for him as he is
constantly scoring runs since then. The world champion team of the fifty over
format is currently engaged in a five match tussle with Sri Lanka and it is
Virat's captaincy and some crucial knocks with the bat, which has sealed the
series for his team after just three games. The third ODI against the Lankan
team added another feather in his career.
The star Indian batsman became the quickest
cricketer to reach 6,000 ODI runs bettering the record of West Indian legend
Vivian Richards. Playing in his 144th match and 136th innings, Virat reached
the milestone when he scored a single off Chaturanga de Silva's bowling in the
39th over. Vivian Richards took 156 matches and 141 innings to reach 6,000 ODI
runs in 1989. This talented lad is the 8th Indian to achieve the above
mentioned record. He has replied back in the best possible manner by making his
willow talk at a time when everything has turned against him.
The upcoming tour of Australia will
certainly test him but he has everything in him to come out with flying colors.
He has got an exceptional track record on the bouncy and fast pitches of
Australia and this will help him in the challenging conditions. Virat is a
fighter who knows how to score runs in any situation. He just have to be careful outside the
off-stump as this is one area where he likes pushing casually at the start of
the innings. If he is able to score runs in Australia, Team India might defuse
heavy defeats especially in the Test series. The upcoming World Cup will be
played in Australia and New Zealand so the Test series and the triangular ODI
tourney after that will be very important to get into the groove. Virat Kohli
must have thought about this as he will have to play a vital role in the future
matches after the ongoing series.
